Samena Capital is committed to being a leader in sustainability by taking a proactive approach and demonstrating this through its consideration of Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) factors across multiple business areas.

Promoting ESG Best Practices

In the past few years there has been a fundamental shift in focus within financial services when it comes to Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (“ESG”) strategy and implementation.

Samena Capital is committed to being a leader in sustainability by taking a proactive approach and demonstrating this through its consideration of ESG factors across multiple business areas on a continual basis. Our aim is to integrate ESG into our investment strategy by incorporating ESG factors into investment analysis and decision-making processes while acknowledging ESG as a driver of value creation. The Investment Committee of Samena Capital Investments Limited assesses the ways in which ESG risks and opportunities can have material impacts on a portfolio company’s performance. This assessment highlights the importance we consider when using ESG factors to steer investment opportunities in order to ensure socially responsible investing.

Environmental

Samena Capital is committed to minimising the environmental impact of our global operations and will be focused on a number of areas including recycling and gradually eliminating the use of plastic bottles, limiting the use of printed materials and reducing business travel significantly with a commensurate increase in investment on video conferencing and similar technologies.

Social

Within our communities, we engage with non-profit organisations on issues important to the stakeholders of our business, including key projects and initiatives undertaken by the Samena Capital Foundation. We focus on expanding economic opportunity in the communities within the SAMENA region, partnering with trusted charities on the ground with a focus on advancement of education, youth empowerment and poverty alleviation and ensuring our projects promote diversity, equity and inclusion.

Governance

Our governance structures and processes make every effort to encourage accountability, transparency and ethical behaviour by our senior management. We have always cultivated a strong risk and control environment. Today our diverse board composition across a number of group entities include experienced female directors.
